Snatched Body has the 21st century version of waist trainer corsets that you need. All at an affordable price, no need to be royalty.

They say fashion is cyclical – what was popular forty years ago could potentially come back into style in the near future. There are a handful of staple pieces that seem to never go out of style though. They might only be worn for specific occasions but chances are, almost everyone has a few timeless statement pieces in their closet.

A great example of this is the corset. The corset is one piece that – since its origination in sixteenth-century Europe – has remained popular, trendy, and a staple in many people’s closets. It’s now 2022 and the world is no different. If anything, women (and men!) wear corsets or waist cinchers more casually than they ever have before.

These pieces have traditionally been worn as undergarments for skirts, dresses, and other high-fashion items. However, there are moments in history when people wore them as outer garments as well, on the outside of dresses and other high-fashion items. Now, people will wear them with sweats or jeans just as often they will wear them with dresses and skirts.

Regardless, one thing is for sure. Waist training gives people confidence and the chance to feel sexy in their own skin by accentuating the curves they already have! But enough about that! Let’s dive into the history of body shaping in women’s history and give appreciation to just how revolutionary this fashion staple really is!

The Era of Corsets and Waist Cinchers: The Beginning

body shaping corsets It’s hard to call waist trainer corsets an era because they have been around for such a long period of time. We are talking centuries here people!

When they first were introduced in England in the sixteenth century, corsets remained an indispensable garment in fashion until the end of the seventeenth century. That’s a long run for a fashion garment!

By the 18th century, women still wore corsets but these corsets focused more on:

  • Shaping
  • Raising the breasts
  • Tightening the midriff
  • Improving posture
  • Supporting the back
  • Bringing in the waist

Then came the Victorian Era. During this time period, machine-made corsets gained popularity because of how fast it was to make them. It also made corsets more widely available to women that didn’t necessarily come from money.

20th Century - Today

Beginning in the 20th century, corset use was at its lowest. Post Industrial Revolution Era led to endless possibilities in fashion and the world saw things they had never seen before.

Understandably, corsets were put on the back burner while the fashion industry figured out how far it could go. Now, waist trainers and fajas are popular once again! And by the looks of it, will remain staple fashion pieces for centuries to come.

Why They Are So Popular

bodyshaping fajaThere are many reasons why waist training has been popular for so long. Not only do you accentuate natural beauty and curves, but you also gain back health benefits! You just strap it on and all of a sudden your exercise routine and weight loss goals can go out the window.
