We are now walking into February, which means Black History Month is in full swing. Below is a list of ten beautiful and accomplished black women and why they inspire us every single day!

  1. Aja Naomi King

    37-year-old Aja Naomi King is an American actress and mother of one. If you aren’t obsessed with How To Get Away With Murder and are having trouble pinpointing where you recognize her from, King also starred in Emily Owens, M.D.. She received the NAACP Image Award For Outstanding Support Actress in a Drama Series in 2015 and has been in several films. Not to mention that amazing smile!

    Lupita Nyong’o is a Mexico-born, Kenya-raised actress that has acted in a number of movies to make black history. Some of the movies include, 12 Years a Slave and Black Panther and her most recent film being Us in 2019. She’s a representation of resilience and strength to so many women.

    Beyonce has been a queen and role model for decades now. Millennial girls remember her Destiny’s Child days and putting Jay-Z in his place with Irreplaceable. They now have three beautiful children together with too many accomplishments to count. Even if Beyonce never makes anything ever again, she will continue to inspire others for generations.

    Alicia Keys is like the mother you never had. She is so wise and the lyrics to her songs are so powerful. Her wisdom is inspirational enough, she’s also one of the most talented singers in history and a mother of two. She is probably the best person to talk to for relationship advice, or just listen to one of her old classics!

    American model and Victoria’s Secret Angel, Chanel Iman is a recently single mother of two. If that’s not inspiring, we don’t know what is. And she does it with grace. She was even declared one of the top 30 models in the 2000s by Vogue Paris.

    Keke Palmer just seems like one of the most relatable, funny people out there. She has a warmth about her that couldn’t be more sincere. Palmer has received several awards throughout her career as an actress, including six NAACP Image Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award. Her portfolio is also extensive for any actress, especially one that isn’t even thirty yet!

All of these women are an inspiration to men, women, and even teens everywhere. They work hard to pursue their dreams and make this world a better place in the process. There are so many others that didn’t make it onto this list but every black woman deserves a little extra attention and appreciation this month!
